If you’re like us, you’ve been watching Dave Bowman and Sam Memmolo repair, restore, and upgrade cars and trucks for years. We can remember all the way back to the days of Shadetree Mechanic on The Nashville Network with these guys. Now a part of Motorhead Garage, Bowman and Memmolo recently took some time to upgrade a Coyote powered Mustang GT with Airaid.
The dynamic duo of auto customizing were joined by Airaid’s Trent McGee to show how easy it is to install one of Airaid’s MXP Cold Air Intake kits on a late model Mustang. The MXP system is designed to replace the OEM system from the air box back to the throttle body. It includes a new air inlet tube, high-flow SnythaMax air filter, and roto-molded cold air box that isolates the incoming air charge from under hood heat instead drawing fresh air in from outside the car.
Airaid also includes with the MXP system an adapter which will correct the incoming air signal to the mass airflow sensor. This allows the car run without an update to the engine tuning. The adapter is removable so that if tuning is performed later, owners can take advantage of the full capabilities of the system.
The video covers several good tips to make installing this kit even easier than it already is. Airaid MXP kits include everything needed for installation, and you can have your Mustang making more power in about a half-hour by installing one. For more information on these and other Airaid parts be sure to check out the Airaid web-site.
