We were recently asked a question that stumped us about the 2015 Mustang GT. How do you activate the line lock? On all previous models, if you wanted to burn the tires while sitting still, you either needed to add a line lock system, or mash the brake simultaneously with the accelerator. It was a little tricky, bur these days as the saying goes, there’s an app for that. Ford added a line lock feature to the 2015 Mustang GT Performance Pack, which is accessible in the Track Apps menu. This features will let owners roast the rear tires for up to 15 seconds, and probably putting a smile on tire store manager faces across the USA. However, there seems to be some confusion by many enthusiasts as to how to engage this tire shredding feature.
Whether that’s due to a lack of knowledge by sales staff, or just the complexity of the system gumming things up in most owner’s memories, we don’t know. What we do know, is that someone needed to explain it and we recently found a person who did just that.
Jim Torres explains in his short video that he too was somewhat puzzled on how to get line lock working on his 2015 Mustang GT. After getting the message that the feature was unavailable, he finally did some research and figured out how to activate Line Lock properly. Torres put together this video, which is under 2-minutes in length to explain how it’s done.
The key is in the series of commands and holding the correct button as you activate line lock. Torres does a good job here of walking users through it and alleviating any confusion. Check out the video for full details and happy tire frying everyone.
