The Aussies love the Mustang. Since Ford’s pony car galloped Down Under, sales have surged. There was a waiting list and Ford even allocated more cars for sale there. Like their US counterparts, Australian enthusiasts love modding those cars for more power too.
With Ford Performance Parts approved for sale there, tuners like Herrod Performance are heating up 2015+ Mustangs. One customer for a hotter Mustang was Bathurst 1000 winner and V8 Supercar champion Russell ‘The Enforcer’ Ingall. He brought his S550 to Herrod for a host of upgrades (see sidebar).

A bet between Russell Ingall and Tony Longhurst resulted in a battle of David and Goliath, where Russell attempted to haul Tony’s catamaran out of the water with his Mustang.
Herrod Mustang Upgrades
• Ford Performance halfshafts
• Ford Performance FR3 handling kit
• Ford Performance supercharger
• TSW Wheels
• Shelby GT350R exhaust
• Shelby GT350 steering wheel
“This boat is the latest and greatest, a testament to an Australian boat building industry that is truly alive, is very strong and deserves more recognition than it receives,” Tony said. “It uses a lithium battery and can work on its own or in tandem with solar or wind. It’s silent and lightweight, emission-free and low maintenance, creating energy while sailing. It’s absolutely a viable replacement for diesel propulsion.”
If nothing else, the battle of Mustang versus boat resulted in some epic burnout footage captured by a drone.
“Russell doesn’t realize the challenge he’s got on his hands,” he added. “He owes me one from Bathurst, but we might have to wait, I reckon the Cat’s the power over the Pony!”
As you can see in the video, it was an epic battle that made for a great show and Russell definitely had a little extra-curricular fun with his Herrod-prepped stallion.
