Dig-Race Domination As Mustangs Race Each Other And Brand X

We all love a good, old fashion dig race. This is the classic race most people think of when they hear the term drag race. It’s a head-to-head matchup of pure, raw power in the two cars competing in the race. With dig racing, it’s just a straight line and in the end, the car with the most power and the driver with the most skill will come out on top. This video is just a fun-to-watch mash-up of a couple of straight forward dig races.

The first race in the video is between a 2006 Pontiac GTO and a 2003 Mustang Cobra. The GTO has a stock engine, stock heads, and a stock camshaft, but a built 4L60 automatic transmission and 200-shot of nitrous. The Cobra has a stock motor, 3.73 rearend gears, and is running on E85 fuel. There is a little more info on the two cars in the set of pictures bellow.

These are the two cars competing in the first race.

Both cars spin their ties at the line as a show of force, running a quick burnout session before kicking off the race. The cars take their positions after the burnouts, the flagger stands centered out in front of the two cars, and he signals the start of the race. Right away the Mustang Cobra takes the lead, keeps the lead, and wins the dig. Chalk one up for the Mustangs.

The second race is between two Mustangs: A blasphemous, LS1-powered Fox Mustang with a 200-shot of nitrous, and a 2013 Mustang with a built Coyote engine, twin turbos, and a Powerglide automatic transmission. This was a good match, and a cool way to pair up an old and new Mustang, so we were watching this race on the edge of our seats.

Again, the cars start by burning some rubber before the race kicks off — a display of power undoubtedly intended to intimidate the opponent. The cars take their positions, the flagger takes his, and they are off. The Fox pulls ahead at the beginning, but is overtaken by the 2013 Mustang as seen in the GoPro footage taken from the ’13. Ford power takes the day again.

Here you can see the ’13 overtake the Fox.

The third race puts a 2000 Camaro against a 2013 Shelby GT500. The Camaro features a stock LS1, 3.90 rearend gearing, and a 200-shot of nitrous, while the Mustang has its stock engine, stock blower, full exhaust, 4.30 rearend gearing, and is running on E85 fuel. The two cars are well-matched to be sure, but who is going to take the race?

The burnout display takes place in the dark, where the lights and green tone of the infrared lights on the camera make the smoke from the burning rubber even more pronounced and spectacular. The cars race three times, the first race is a bust where the Camaro had a poor start, the second and third races are won by the Camaro. Boo!

The third matchup is between the GT500 and the Fox Mustang, these are both competitors that we saw earlier. This race almost leads to catastrophe for the GT500 as the two cars take off from the start, the Fox is out in the lead, and the GT500 nearly loses control.

The final race is between a different Fox Mustang and the 2013 Mustang we saw earlier with the built Coyote engine and twin turbos. The new Fox ’Stang features a built small-block Ford engine, a 98m turbo, a Powerglide automatic transmission, and race fuel.

The new Fox we have competing in this race against the 2013 Mustang we saw earlier.

The 2013 demonstrates a burnout that’s nothing to shake a stick at, and the Fox throws one back just as hard. The two cars hit the line and the flagger signals the race. They take off and the 2013 Mustang wins over the Fox in a close race.
