We officially own the first and fastest 2018 Mustang GT. — Willie Diaz, MAK Performance
“We officially own the first and fastest 2018 Mustang GT,” Willie Diaz of MAK Performance told us after the car broke the record at Palm Beach International Raceway in Jupiter, Florida on a cool Friday evening in January.

MAK Performance’s 2018 Mustang GT put its 846 rear wheel horsepower to record-setting good use by propelling the second-gen S550 into the 9-second zone for the first time.
We still have some gremlins that we are working on with the transmission. — Willie Diaz, MAK Performance
“Basically we are just tuning,” Willie explained. “We still have some gremlins that we are working on with the transmission. Everything else is identical.”
The prime mover under the hood of this E85-burning 2018 is a ProCharger HO kit headlined by the company’s Coyote-friendly P-1X supercharger, which offers a broad boost curve that doesn’t quit on the top end. Combined with a carefully selected group of supporting hardware and tuning, this combination produced over 846 horsepower and 598 lb-ft of torque on the shop’s in-house Mustang chassis dyno.
