With 2.7- and 3.5-liter Ford EcoBoost engines there is now a way to get up to four pounds of extra boost in under an hour and with no serious modification to the Vehicle. Flowmaster offers their Delta Boost Performance Tuner Module that is compatible with EcoBoost engines and not only allows you to add varying levels of boost to your existing system, it is fully controllable from an app on your smartphone.
The module is extremely easy to install; all you have to do is plug it in to your existing boost sensor receiver and then plug the boost sensor into the Delta Boost Module. It’s that easy. Flowmaster has even put together several videos where Steve, one of their rerpresentatives, installs the module in front of the camera. On the 3.5-liter engines the module is easily accessible under the hood and takes less than 10 minutes to install.
Installation in the 3.5-liter Ford Engine is as easy as opening the hood, disconnecting the boost sensor, connecting the Delta Boost Module, and then connecting the factory boost sensor to the Delta module.
The installation process on the 2.7-liter Mustang is a little more complicated, although still about the easiest way out there to increase your boost. Steve explained that the whole process only takes a “flathead screwdriver, quarter-inch ratchet, 7mm socket, and a pair of wire cutters.” He’s not exaggerating either. He then shows you the process of getting access to the factory boost sensor and installing the Delta Boost Module. It only takes a few minutes in the video and the average hobbyist could do it in under an hour.
The video below walks you through installation on the 2016 Mustang step by step.
The use of the module is actually even easier than the installation. The unit is fully controllable using a Bluetooth app on your phone. The module defaults to Sport Mode, which provides three additional pounds of boost. If you do not have a smart device, or do not wish to link and use it with your boost tuner, the unit will still operate without issues and will just stay on sport mode always.
The default screen when you first open the app (left), the message displayed when you select Max mode (center), and the gauge when you are in live view mode. Live view mode is just like it sounds and shows the boost in real time, it also hides the mode select option (left).
There are four preset modes at your disposal: Valet, Standard, Sport, and Max. Valet will not let the vehicle to gain any boost, Standard is the stock setting, Sport mode is the default for the unit which gives three PSI, and the final mode available is Max, which adds four PSI. Flowmaster recommends a 91-or-higher octane fuel for use with max mode.
The module is inexpensive, easy to install, and provides several pounds of boost to increase the horsepower output on your car or truck. The price and ease of use and installation make it the ideal way to increase output on your Ford EcoBoost motor.
