Want to commemorate that next lap around the sun in unforgettable style? Imagine driving the birthday cake right up to the guest of honor and letting them blow out the candles. Yes, there are all sorts of custom cakes out there these days, but the next-level confectionary for your favorite auto fanatic is a remote-control car cake like this sugary 2013 Shelby GT500.
“This cake was based on a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, it is fully mobile and able to be controlled remotely using a custom remote,” says Angie Scott Cakes. “This type of cake works great as a surprise for the birthday boy or girl and can be custom-designed to resemble any make and model of car.”

The idea for the cake came about last year when Stuart Harris was playing cars with his young son, Jake, and pretended to eat the car. With that burst of creativity, he and his wife Angie set out to put their respective talents of working with electronics and baking to good use.
“It was trial and error and I got through a few cars in the process but we’re pretty pleased with the end result,” Stuart Harris told the Daily Mail.

Not only is the remote-control Shelby cake functional, it is edible. Atop the R/C chassis is a sponge cake with green-apple buttercream filling betwixt its layers.
Now this cake is one of myriad custom cakes available from the couple’s bakery, which you can check out at its official site here.
