Best known for his long-running musical career — which has spanned from Montrose to solo and Van Halen to Chickenfoot — Sammy Hagar is, foremost a lover of life. He appreciates fine spirits and fast cars, and after selling his tequila company for millions, he can now pretty much just do the things that make him happy. His latest venture is just that — a dream festival that combines beach, booze, cars, and music.
This will be like my annual birthday bash on steroids. — Sammy Hagar
That’s right, the Red Rocker is hosting Sammy Hagar’s High Tide Beach Party & Car Show this fall in Huntington Beach, California, and it sounds like a great time for people who enjoy life the way Sammy does.

If you are looking for a good time that includes booze, beach, cars, and music, Sammy Hagar’s High Tide Beach Party & Car Show might be for you. It is scheduled for October 6, 2018 in Huntington Beach, California.
“I’ve been trying to throw this party on the beaches of Cabo for a decade and I am thrilled someone’s finally letting me do it, and in one of the coolest beach cities in America — Huntington Beach,” Sammy enthused. “This will be like my annual birthday bash on steroids. Surf’s up is an understatement!”
A rarity on the burgeoning music festival landscape, High Tide promises a curated car show featuring some of Sammy’s personal rides, including limited-production 2005 Ford GTX. It will also showcase special custom rides like Chris Marechal’s Vicious Mustang, which Ford fans know features a 1,000-horsepower twin-turbo/blown Coyote under its customized sheetmetal. Of course, there will be many non-Ford hot rods and exotics there as well.
“I love cars so much, every good looking car that I see I go, ’Man, I should get one of those,’ but I’m out of room,” Sammy told Mercury Insurance. “My garage at my house is full, there’s two cars sitting outside, I’ve got cars in my other homes. I’m really still a car junkie.”
High Tide organizers are also looking for other vehicles to include in the show, and you can even enter your car for consideration right here.
This unique festival is described as a beach party and car show. The latter is said to be a curated show, which promises cars on the level of Sammy’s personal Ford GTX (left) and classic Mustang, as well as the 1,000-horsepower Vicious Mustang (top), among other high-end rides.
Of course, music is a huge part of this event as well. Sammy’s current band The Circle, which includes Michael Anthony (ex-Van Halen), Vic Johnson, and Jason Bonham, will headline along with appearances by Joe Satriani, Vince Neil, and other guests. Other bands on the bill are REO Speedwagon, Reel Big Fish, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, Tijuana Dogs, and Dead Mermaids Featuring Tre Cool.
“We are excited to work with Sammy Hagar to bring his legacy to life with a Beach Party in Southern California,” said promoter John Oakes. “Special thanks to California State Parks for working with us to host this show on the beautiful California coast.”
Tickets for the October 6 event are on sale now, and you can get all the details on the official site right here.
