Street racing is a dangerous endeavor no matter how safe you try to make it. We can’t say we condone it in any way, but we also can’t say we don’t enjoy the many videos we find online watching Mustangs annihilate their competition.
Hitting the streets in Texas in a 900-plus horsepower Coyote powered Mustang the crew from 1320 video find out what it’s like when the cops pull you over late at night for racing on the interstate.
After being the camera car for a GTR vs 600 horsepower Vette race, the GT lines up to take his turn. We were interested to see this face off, we know the Godzillas get tons of traction and make insane power, we just hoped the Stang could keep up. At first we were shocked to see the Stang take off and leave the GTR behind and then it happens, the blue lights.
Inevitably if you own a Mustang, at some point you’ll see those lights in your mirror. However, seeing those lights at 100-plus MPH takes things from bad to worse. While a lot of guys say they’d keep their foot in it and try to run, the truth is in this modern era, and in a major metropolitan area, you can’t just run. Helicopters and other cops will just be waiting for you, and will make a bad situation worse.
Wisely the driver pulls the Mustang over quickly, and then we get to hear what happens. The conversation with the cop has to be one of the coolest we’ve ever heard. Essentially he tells the driver he’s been letting the racing slide as long as no one was getting stupid about it during the late night hours and traffic was light. Since it’s now getting closer to sunrise and traffic is picking up he very politely advises the Mustang driver to tell his friends to get back to their hotel rooms and call it a night. No ticket, no paperwork, and no spending the night in the pokey.
These guys got lucky, and lived to tell their tale to friends only a few minutes later. Check out the video and tell us what you would do in the comments below.
