The Ford Flat Rock Assembly Plant has been home to Mustang production for a few years now, and the plant is preparing to transition to build the all-new 2015 Mustang, which requires its own special tooling. We’re sure Ford will release a video from the assembly line of the 2015 Mustang eventually, but for now let’s take a trip down Nostalgia Lane and check out what the assembly plant looked like when the 2013 Mustang was rolling through.
While not nearly as interesting or intricate as the slickly-produced Chrysler 200 intro video, this YouCar video checking out fresh Ford Mustangs rolling down the assembly line is still pretty fun to watch.
The best part by far, of course, is watching that big Coyote 5.0 engine slip up into the engine bay with ease from the bottom. Makes us feel like suckers for having to use an old-fashioned engine hoist, but then again we’re not a multi-billion dollar automaker. Watching that finished product literally roll off of the assembly line still puts a smile on our face.
The video starts off with just an empty shell of a car, but so much snaps into place with just a little input from the assembly line workers. The meshing of man and machine to make a Ford Mustang is pretty fun to watch, and you can bet the next-generation Mustang is going to get some next-generation tooling to bring this pony car into the 21st century.
